Lord Murugan Abhishekam
The Hindu Temple Association of Eastern Iowa invites devotees to participate in the sacred Lord Murugar Abhishekam ceremony held on Skanda Sashti, a significant day dedicated to Lord Muruga (Kartikeya), the warrior deity and son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.
- From March to October, the Abhishekam takes place at 6:30 PM.
- For the rest of the year, it is conducted at 6:00 PM.
During this divine ritual, Lord Muruga is bathed in holy substances like milk, yogurt, honey, and sandalwood paste, symbolizing purification and renewal. Devotees come together to offer their prayers, seek blessings, and experience spiritual upliftment through the chanting of hymns and mantras.
